Sterile non-hemolysed serum or CSF; 1.0 ml preferred, 0.5 ml minimum
Collect in red top tube, separate serum promptly or collect in serum separator tube, spin and send "as-is".

Testing should be done when clinical evidence suggests diagnosis of cryptococcal disease and not as a screening procedure for the general population. This test yields a presence/absence report of cryptococcal antigen in the specimen. It does not provide a qualitative titer of the antigen concentration.
