|Collect blood from each animal in separate EDTA tubes. Individual samples must be identified and submitted separately; samples will be pooled by the laboratory.
**Bovine: Up to 10 EDTA/pool for bovine (no pooling if <5 samples submitted - please refer to individual BVDV-PCR test information)
**Camelid: Up to 5 EDTA/pool for >61 days of age; 2 EDTA/pool for <61 days of age (blood from animals >61 days of age will not be pooled with those that are <61 days of age)
|Refrigerated, leak proof containers. Do not allow blood to freeze. Overnight shipping recommended.
|Fee is $45.00/pool and includes confirmation of individuals if a pool tests positive. Samples from different owners will not be pooled. Pooled testing should only be used for detection of Persistently Infected (PI) animals in herds without clinical signs of BVDV. Although it is possible to detect acute BVDV infections, clinical suspects should be tested individually. Pooling specimens can produce a dilution effect increasing the risk of "false negatives". If an animal tests positive, we recommend testing again in 3-4 weeks to confirm PI status.
