Enteric: ~3-5 grams feces, or intestinal contents
Respiratory: deep nasal swab, tracheal or pharyngeal swab, trans-tracheal wash, BAL, lung and associated lymph nodes

| Collection Protocol: |
|
|
| Collect specimens aseptically into individual, sterile, leak proof containers and label with permanent marker. Place swabs into dry, sterile tubes (no anticoagulants). Do not use bacterial transport swabs or any tubes containing agar gel or charcoal, as these are inhibitory for PCR. Keep specimens refrigerated and ship within 24 hours. OB sleeves or gloves are not acceptable. |
