The EHV real-time PCR Panel includes screening for EHV-1 and EHV-4 viruses. If EHV-1 DNA is detected, the specimen will be further tested using the EHV-1 allelic discrimination real-time PCR assay. The EHV-1 allelic discrimination PCR assay will differentiate between wild type (non-neurotropic) and the neurotropic genotypes, also referred to as the N752 or A2254 genotype (non-neuropathogenic allele) and the D752 or G2254 genotype (neuropathogenic allele). *Fee is $50.00 per specimen for the first 3 specimens and then $42.50 each for additional specimens submitted at the same time from the same owner.
