Collection Protocol:    
To detect the presence of lungworm larvae feces must be very fresh, collected directly from the animal's rectum or from very fresh droppings to eliminate extraneous soil organisms. 
Shipping Requirements:    
Refrigerated, leak proof container.  Do not submit in latex gloves or OB sleeves. Overnight or 2-day shipping is recommended.
Additional Information:    
The Baermann procedure on fresh feces can detect larvae of the meningeal worm of white-tailed deer.  If older feces are used, larvae of strongyles and non-pathogenic nematodes may be found while lungworm larvae (and meningeal worm) may no longer be present.
