Fresh feces - 5 grams (golf-ball size). Samples older than 5 days should be rejected as embryonation and loss of ova may have occured.
Collect feces directly from the animal's rectum or from very fresh droppings to eliminate extraneous soil organisms. Collect into a water-tight sealed screw-capped container or zippered plastic bag. Glove or OB sleeves are not acceptable.
This panel includes a McMasters screen and Haemonchus contortus if a minimum of 25 eggs/gram are identified in the McMasters.The Haemonchus report will only be indicated as positive/negative with no percentage of the organism. This panel is recommended for checking post-treatment or on a herd basis. The McMasters must be completed prior to running the Haemonchus test, which will be run by the regular schedule.
