We require a minimum of 6 unstained (preferably charged) slides in addition to slides submitted for cytologic diagnosis*.
Alternatively, aspirates of lesions (e.g. lymph nodes) may be submitted in EDTA with 1 mL of phosphate buffered saline (or 0.9% NaCl, LRS, Normosol) + 0.1 mL of patient serum for processing by the clinical pathology laboratory.
Samples submitted in EDTA must be received within 48 hours of acquisition.
*The cost of the panel does not include initial diagnostic cytology. A record of diagnosis of lymphoma from another lab is sufficient to pursue immunophenotyping.
Diagnostic accuracy is limited to the presence of intact cells in each sample.
Lymphoma panel includes CD3 and CD79A stains.
