Friends of the College of Veterinary Medicine
Thank you to all the friends who support our mission in many ways, large and small. From helping students with the crushing cost of a veterinary education to helping low-income pet owners get medical care at the OSU Veterinary Hospital, our friends make it possible for the college to continue building positive animal-human connections.
Here are just some of the ways you can help:
- The Pet Promise Program
- The Olive K. Britt Fund
Through a provision in her will, veterinarian Olive Britt created an endowment in OSU's College of Veterinary Medicine to provide clinical care for referred shelter animals or animals whose owners can't afford to pay for emergency procedures. Her legacy of compassionate care lives on at her alma mater.
- The Pet Memorial Program
- The Cora Fund: Fighting Canine Cancer
- Maddies Fund
Earn Income By Making A Gift
Want to replace interest income from low-return certificates of deposit? Consider making a gift to the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine in exchange for a lifetime annuity. You will receive a fixed income stream for your lifespan and the remainder of the annuity will be donated to the college upon your death. An important aspect of a gift annuity is that the annuity payout is determined by one's age rather than the prevailing interest rates. Currently, that means a 60-year-old couple would receive about 4% interest. A 70-year-old couple would receive about 5%. Yields for individuals are higher. A gift annuity is considered tax friendly in that the yield is largely tax-free and the initial charitable donation offers a significant tax deduction. If you would like more information about charitable gift annuities, contact Kelley Marchbanks, Director of Development, OSU College of Veterinary Medicine: 1-800-354-7281.
