||M, Tu, W, Th, F
|Specimen submitted in 75% ethanol or 10% formalin is preferred. A live specimen may be submitted but please note on submission. Fresh feces ~ 5 grams. Skin scraping.
|Protocol varies dependent upon type of parasite to be identified. Fresh feces, collected directly from the animal's rectum or from very fresh droppings to eliminate extraneous soil organisms, free-living nonparasitc larvae. Skin scraping - see Mite Examination. Place other parasite samples into leak proof container.
|Refrigerated, leak proof container. Do not submit in latex gloves or OB sleeves. Overnight or 2-day shipping is recommended.
|Turnaround time may vary due to difficulty in identifying submitted parasites, more than one parasite genus submitted for identification or condition of specimen. Specimens in better condition are easier to find identifying characteristics. Also, some may require “clearing” to be able to evaluate distinguishing characteristics. * Fee is based upon the above mentioned variables with the base price of $16.00.
