At the Lois Bates Acheson Veterinary Teaching Hospital your animal will be cared for by a team of board-certified veterinary specialists, interns and residents, certified veterinary technicians, and fourth-year veterinary students. Because we work together to provide state-of-the-art treatment for complex medical issues, a visit to the teaching hospital may take longer than a typical veterinary office visit.
If you have any questions about medicating or feeding your pet on the day of your appointment, or any questions regarding the appointment, please contact:

Large Animal Reception
Hours of operation: Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm; Emergency Services 24/7
Starting Tuesday, July 6, we are expanding our services to include in-person services for clients with scheduled appointments. Our goal is to provide a safe environment for all, so we will continue to offer curbside/remote services in addition to in-person services. During remote check-in, clients will be asked if they prefer in-person or remote services.
For clients preferring in-person services:
Face masks: For those electing in-person services, face masks are required. When you enter the reception area, you will be asked to wear a mask, sanitize your hands and maintain your distance from others. Hospital personnel will also be wearing masks when interacting with clients.
Receiving/Discharging: To minimize time in the reception area, service personnel will call you when your animal is ready to be received or discharged.
For clients preferring curbside/remote services:
Receiving: For scheduled appointments and procedures, we will take your animal's history over the phone. Once you’ve checked in, we will meet you at your vehicle and escort your animal into the clinic. Once the examination has been completed, we will call you to review the examination findings and discuss treatments options.
Discharging: We will escort your animal to your vehicle. We can either call, email or bring you a copy of the exam notes and instructions.
Payments: We are happy to take credit card or debit card payments over the phone. For personal check payments, you may mail or deposit a check into the payment box at our front entrance. Receipts will be emailed to you.
Medication Pickup: If you are picking up medications, please call when you arrive, and we will place your order at our front entrance. Payments for medication must be made at the time of pickup.
