Biography

Erica McKenzie (BSc, BVMS, PhD. DACVIM, DACVSMR) has been a faculty member in the College of Veterinary Medicine since 2005. Her activities include the teaching of veterinary students and graduate veterinarians, provision of specialist care to large animals with serious medical problems, and performing research relevant to animal exercise physiology and exercise-induced disease. Dr. McKenzie has authored seven book chapters and over 30 scientific manuscripts relevant to exercise physiology and exercise-related disease in horses and racing sled dogs. She has selected charter status in the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation, for which she currently serves as a regent on the Board of Directors and as a national examination committee member. She also serves on the International Committee for the International Conference on Equine Exercise Physiology, which oversees the presentation of cutting edge equine sports medicine research once every four years in different locations around the world, and she acts as an editorial consultant regarding exercise physiology for several scientific journals. Erica also competes as an elite non-professional triathlete and assists coaching of the OSU student triathlon club.
