Shortly after graduating from high school in Texas, Dr. Jacob Mecham spent two-years in the Philippines on a full-time mission for his church.  After completing his mission, Dr. Mecham attended Brigham Young University where he earned a BS in Animal Science with minors in Zoology and Business.  He then went on to earn his DVM from Texas A&M University.  Upon graduation, Dr. Mecham interned at referral hospitals in both Utah and Oklahoma.

In 2007, inspired by opportunity to teach, Dr. Mecham accepted a faculty position at Oregon State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.  Dr. Mecham thoroughly enjoys helping students progress in their education while simultaneously providing healthcare to horses in the community.  Although he provides any care needed while in the field, Dr. Mecham has a special place in his heart for dentistry, acupuncture, and spinal manipulation (chiropractics).

Dr. Mecham enjoys hiking, kayaking, and is involved with the Boy Scouts of America.  Dr. Mecham is married with seven children.
