The residency program is designed to provide high-quality, in depth clinical training in the areas of veterinary diagnostic imaging which will adequately prepare the resident to pass the examination for the ECVDI/ACVR diploma. The program will provide an in-depth understanding of diagnostic radiology, ultrasonography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance tomography as well as knowledge of the general principles and applications of nuclear medicine. The principles of radiation safety and biology and radiotherapy will be given. Residents will rotate through radiology/ultrasound/CT/MRI. The focus of the residency will be on small animals and equine patients; however experience will also be gained with food animals and exotic species. Learning activities scheduled on a weekly basis include imaging rounds, pathology rounds, journal club, resident seminar series and examination preparation. The Department of Clinical Sciences at the Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine at Oregon State University is seeking applications for a sponsored four-year residency in Diagnostic Imaging (July 2025- July 2029); dates may be adjusted for legal reasons for residents on visas. The residency program is structured according to the guidelines defined by the American College of Veterinary Radiology and is designed to provide high-quality, in-depth clinical training in the veterinary diagnostic imaging with the overall goal to provide the training and experience to qualify the candidate for certification by the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR).
The program is supervised by 4 board-certified radiologists: Stacy Cooley, DACVR (residency director), Susanne Stieger-Vanegas, DECVDI, Lauren Newsom, DACVR and Alexandra Collins-Webb, DACVR. A Master’s degree program is optional for US citizens but mandatory for international students. A detailed description of the program is available on the ACVR website. The successful candidate will sign a memorandum of understanding with the sponsor regarding post-residency obligations.
