The Oregon Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory is your source for diagnostics and testing related to animal health and its relationship to human health.

We are fully accredited by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians and a member of the National Animal Health Laboratory Network and the FDA Veterinary Laboratory Investigation and Response Network.

The Oregon Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory is closed for all university holidays. We do not accept specimens or shipments on weekends or holidays. Please plan your testing needs with these hours and closures in mind.

Location

The Oregon Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory is located in Magruder Hall on the Oregon State University campus. The lab can be accessed via the south entrance to Magruder Hall.

Championing public health both off and on campus, the Oregon Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at the Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine serves the people of Oregon by providing human COVID-19 testing both in partnership with WVT Laboratory and for the Oregon State University TRACE-COVID-19 public health surveillance project

In total, this partnership has performed more than 300,000 tests.

Highly pathogenic avian influenza has been diagnosed in domestic birds in Oregon.

Confirmation of the HPAI diagnosis was made by scientists at the USDA’s National Veterinary Services Laboratory from samples originally tested by scientists at the Oregon Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.

The Oregon virus is similar to that which has been spreading west across the United States since it was first discovered on the East Coast in January 2022.
