Biography

Dr. Jennifer Pearson grew up in Philomath, Oregon and graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Animal Science. Afterward, she received her DVM from the Oregon State University Carlson College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduating, she started a one-year internship at Cornell University in ambulatory medicine and then stayed on for a residency in ambulatory medicine and theriogenology. She became board certified through the American College of Theriogenology in 2018. Jennifer completed her PhD at the University of Calgary, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine investigating the impacts of calving management, calf risk factors and difficult calving on the health and performance of beef calves in 2019. She then worked as a post-doctoral scholar and sessional instructor at the University of Calgary investigating beef cattle behavior.

Dr. Pearson was an associate professor at the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in bovine health management for the past 5 years where she split her time between teaching clinical skills in bovine medicine and surgery to veterinary students and performing clinical research before starting her position here at OSU. She has a passion for producer education and has delivered calving clinics and created online decision-making tools to assist producers with improving cattle health and welfare. Dr. Pearson’s research interests include bovine peri-partum diseases, neonatal care, pain management, and bull health and fertility.
