Large Animal Internal Medicine
Erica McKenzie, BSc, BVMS, PhD, DACVIM, DACVSMR
Erica McKenzie (BSc, BVMS, PhD. DACVIM, DACVSMR) has been a faculty member in the College of Veterinary Medicine since 2005. Her activities include the teaching of veterinary students and graduate veterinarians, provision of specialist care to large animals with serious medical problems, and performing research relevant to animal exercise physiology and exercise-induced disease. Dr. McKenzie has authored seven book chapters and over 30 scientific manuscripts relevant to exercise physiology and exercise-related disease in horses and racing sled dogs.
Ana Pacheco, DVM, DACVIM
Ana Pacheco joined OSU in 2018. She is originally from Brazil and has graduated from veterinary school at Universidade Federal de Uberlândia in 2005. After a surgical internship at London Equine Hospital (Ontario, Canada), she did a Large Animal Internal Medicine Residency at Tufts University in Massachusetts. She then stayed at Tufts for one more year as an emergency clinician and Dorothy Havemeyer Research fellow. Dr. Pacheco then worked for 6 years at Genesee Valley Equine Clinic, a private practice in upstate New York.
Kelly Sears, DVM, MS, PhD, DACVIM
Dr. Sears joined OSU in July 2021.
Dr. Kelly Sears is a highly skilled and passionate large animal internist, specifically interested in neurology and neonatology. She grew up in West Texas, where she developed a love for animals and the outdoors. Dr. Sears pursued her veterinary education at the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 2010.
