We rescued Buddy from a horrible place with filthy small pens and extremely unhealthy conditions. Buddy had been kicked in the head by a horse. He smelled so awful bringing him home, but I held him close anyway. I coped and sang to him. He grew up happy and healthy. A happy English Mastiff! He loved sitting in our laps , and was called a “tiny house horse” by those visiting. Such a good character. Loving. Kind. He gave us both a male and female offspring. We kept the girl (EmmaSue). Buddy ended up being allergic to something that we could never figure out. The vet helped him so much. His passing in the emergency vet clinic was dignified and peaceful, with me singing to him and Chuck stroking him and telling him he is a good boy. Even though I am having a difficult time with his passing, I can think back to car rides, walks, resting in our laps, and always being right with us. The memories will bring comfort. We thank the donation made to the vet program at OSU in Buddy’s name and know that caring veterinary students are being developed. I can’t summarize Buddy’s life in this space, but he will be forever missed and his passing leaves a hole in our hearts. A word in respect to his life? Mission accomplished. Comfort and Love given. I will always sing when reminded of him, “My Buddy. My Buddy. My Buddy and me.”
