Born in Greenville South Carolina in September of 2008, Cat Stevens (affectionately known as Steve), was adopted into our family. He would go on to spend the next 13 years of his life acting more like a dog than a cat-lounging on his back, playing fetch, and generally being a super social dude. He never cared much about playing with new toys, always preferring a zip tie, straw, or discarded piece of trash. He loved to be outside (even though he never ventured anywhere) and was content just laying in the grass and staying close to his people. Steve was silly and smart and brought so much joy to so many in his short time earth-side. While his last year with us was heartbreakingly spent navigating complex health issues, he remained so held in the care of some of the best veterinary professionals to whom we are eternally grateful. We think of him in every spot of sunlight that shines through the window, and in every flower dancing in the breeze. We are better humans for having loved and been loved by such a sweet soul, and will remember him in everything and with fondness, always.
