Catalina (Catty) was our long haired dark beauty with white on her neck and paws and whiskers. She was five years old when adopted from the shelter where she had lived for 12 months. She had been adopted and returned a few times for chasing other cats in the home. She did that with our 7 cats too if they entered her space (what fun!). She decided to make a large walk-in closet her private domain so we added a small cat tower, a cat bed on a lower shoe shelf, and her toys. She loved to chase a 16" string looped around her tail, spinning around in circles until she got too dizzy.
A few years later, she lost her right rear leg to cancer (rabies vaccine) and later became diabetic. Some pet steps were added in the closet so she could still hop up on her shelf. She also viewed cat videos on a portable DVD player after her surgery and whenever she was bored! She remained happy and got along with the other cats, enjoying playtime outdoors twice a day. Catty outlived the other 7 cats as she was determined to last a long time. It was heartbreaking to let her go at 18 years, and she will always be our sweet Catty with the piercing gold eyes who spooked the two big male cats (Maine Coon and Rag Doll).
