Ciela joined our family in 2011, joining Chloe and Chica. The rescue group thought she was probably 7-8 years old at the time. She was a little stand-offish, didn't really like to be petted, and never got on the furniture - definitely not a lap dog! Over time, she relaxed and would come over to be petted and loved on for a minute, then was gone again. Her favorite thing (besides food and being in the kitchen looking for dropped things) was directing play time with Chloe. She never really chased the ball but was very vocal in cheering Chloe on to get it and I'm sure she was telling her how to chase it as well. Eventually she lost the majority of her hearing but if one of the others barked, she did too even though she had no idea what she was barking at. One day she woke up with a pretty significant limp in her right front leg. X-rays showed the possibility of bone cancer. Pain medication didn't help enough and she developed an intense cough. Further x-rays showed her lungs to be full of many tumors. Nothing helped the cough or the leg pain and even though her spirit seemed willing, we sadly chose to let her go. She has joined all our other well-loved pets at the Rainbow Bridge and will be waiting there for us someday.
