I have tried to sit and write about Darcie our little Cavalier King Charles spaniel, remembering her and all she brought into our lives brings back such joyful memories and heartfelt pains of grief. I miss her softness and her comfort.
Darcie was with us for fourteen years. There is not one word to describe Darcie.
She was pure innocence, love, devotion and trust to the end.
She was kind and gentle, never in all the years did she utter a cross sound.
She walked with pride, tail swishing back and forth eager to find an adventure or a new friend.
We found Darcie purely by accident, we had been without a dog in our lives since our English Setter passed six years before. My daughter saw an ad in the paper that an older couple placed because they could no longer keep her, she was eleven months old then. So we drove down to Florence, Oregon, and one look at that concerned little face and big brown eyes was all it took to bring her home. One of many fond memories of Darcie was in summer when the blue berries were in season and she would gently pull off a ripe one or two for a snack. Of course, there are many other memories, I could write pages about her.

The last year or so of her life she lost the use of her back legs due to a spinal genetic defect, we carried her about and she learned to potty using a waist strap. Darcie never complained just accepted her condition and trusted us to the very end.
I will miss her every day.
