I adopted Dexter from the Oregon Humane Society in early February 2007. He won me over by licking my hands when we had our first meeting. He jumped into my bed in the middle of that first night. We became best buddies very quickly. I crate trained him for about a year and slowly gave him access to the entire apartment. At the dog park he was more interested in chasing and running with the other dogs than fetching toys. He also won over some of the other dog owners with his sweet face and kisses. I took Dexter just about everywhere. He loved Washington Park, Lower Macleay Park, and Laurelhurst Park. He was very good with my brothers dogs and my niece and nephew. He loved pepperoni sticks and chicken. He was also quick to win over the baristas at Starbucks and get a pupacino. Car rides were the most exciting thing for him. He would pace the back seat and get very vocal with excitement. Most of all, he gave me unconditional love and was my best friend. I will miss being greeted by him when arriving at home and having a companion to explore the neighborhood and parks with. RIP Dexter. I love you!
