My husband and I had gone to NM to help my father with his 'end of life'. When we arrived it was 27 degrees and Ms. Dora was in the backyard in an old doghouse and I looked my husband and said, " no way! bring that baby girl in here right now!'
And from that moment she was ours. We brought her back with us the California and boy did she love that Cali sunshine. 2 years later Rene and moved up to the PNW. We had a huge field across from our apt so everyday 2-3 times a day we would go out to the field and she would run and sniff and explore. Then around her 13th birthday I saw a small lump on her front paw area. It was Cancer! Our hearts dropped. Our girl was sick and there wasn't anything we could do. So we made sure we made every day awesome. Kisses, hugs n snugs and walks because we knew our time with her was running low. Then on July 3, 2024 at 5pm her amazing Dr. Rodriguez came and helped Dora cross over the Rainbow Bridge. The tumor was bigger than the palm of my hand and she had looked me in the eye a couple of nights before, and I saw it in her caramel eyes that she was tired. It was one of the hardest things we have ever had to do, but there was no way we'd let her be in pain or worse have that thing break open. So we know our hearts will mend but she left her prints on us forever..
