The Legend of Grandma Tilly
There was a tiny (6 lb.), hairless Chinese Crested dog whose owner passed away in Washington State. She was rescued by Wags to Riches Animal Rescue and Sanctuary in Union Gap, WA, and met her foster family who provided the love and stability she needed to begin to find herself again. They named her Grandma Tilly.
On May 18, 2018, she packed up her food dish and sweaters and moved to her forever home in Portland, Oregon with Sharon and Norm, Bini and Daphne. Grandma Tilly’s adventures included a runaway attempt and being chased down the street by her stocking-footed dad who couldn’t keep up; jumping off a 4’ high wall just to see what was on the other side; walks to the grocery store with her pack; obtaining a supermodel’s wardrobe; eating as much as her sisters, though they were twice her weight; legendary napping in the sun with her heating pad on her ‘throne chair’ or with her nose buried in her mom’s neck; knowing mealtimes and vocalizing about it freely, and in the end, actually enjoying bath time. Her sweet soul left us on 12/15/2020; may her legend live on. She was about 20 years old.
Grandma Tilly’s closest friends are members of the Facebook page Chinese Crested Fan Page, where hundreds of people loved her and followed her story from around the world.
