Junior had a story to tell right from the beginning.
He and his sister were left under a shipping container where I worked. There mom had every intention on coming back to them I am sure. But crossing a busy highway is a dangerous thing to do. She never made it home to them. Small, scared and hungry Junior was left to fend for his sister who was too afraid to come out from under the container. Once I knew they were there I started bringing them food and water. Cheese was what made Junior finally realize people aren't so bad. It took time, a few weeks to get them to where I was able to touch them. Then finally I caught them. They went first to the vet to make sure they were healthy and to be spayed and neutered. That was about 16 years ago.
Junior was more like a dog than any cat I have ever met. He would follow me on walks and around the yard.
He was honestly the best cat I've ever had in my life. He would hug and snuggle. I remember one evening my son brought his girlfriend over, she did not like cats AT ALL. When she sat down, Junior got behind her and hugged her head so gently. He won her over.
Junior was always so strong and healthy. It never occurred to me that he'd ever be gone. And then he was.
I miss him every day but am so glad I made the time to befriend that little bitty faral white and grey kitty all those years ago.
