We first met Kaylee in 2003 at the Bonnie L. Hays Animal Shelter when she reached through the bars and snagged my husband's sweater on her claws as we entered the cat room. It was a Saturday and all the "adoptable" cats were at the mall. Here was this black 2-3 year old cat who had no hair on her back who tended to bite people. It was love at first sight. It didn't take long for Kaylee, aka Bitey, to make herself at home. Although she never was able to tolerate people touching her back for long, she was a big fan of laps and ear scratches. While we managed to untangle her claws from the sweater, she never untangled herself from our hearts. 16 years later we loved her enough to say goodbye.
