I was searching online for rescue dogs when I saw a photo of a little white dog with a look of terror on her face and hunched over with her tail tucked tightly between her legs. She was thin and scrappy looking and my heart broke when I saw her. I wanted to save that little girl. We adopted her from Columbia Humane Society after they rescued her from a "fast kill" clinic in San Diego. She was estimated to be 1-2 years old and her previous life was noticeably not a good one. She was very shy, would hide in any tight corner she could find. She was terrified of strangers, especially men but she was very sweet and gentle. I immediately changed her name from Mamie to Lady as it fit her personality so much more. It took lots of love, cuddles and gentle care before she could trust again. She opened up to become a sweet, playful and loving companion. We were blessed to find her and I miss her terribly.
