Lando was born on 8/30/2011 to a guide dog litter in Boring Oregon. He was raised in Battle Ground Washington and according to his puppy raiser, he had the best personality of all the guide dogs they had raised. Lando became a guide dog at 18 months and went on to guide a woman in Tallahassee Florida. He had a very active Life and retired in 2017 when she released him. He returned to his puppy raiser in Battle Ground and began his retirement.
I had applied for a career change guide dog and was notified about Lando's return to the PNW. Meeting him changed my Life and we became best friends. Being a fun dog and very social, he quickly became the mascot of the Burnt Bridge Trail and the Vancouver NW neighborhood. He rarely barked, only when someone came to the door. Everyone knew and loved him. Because he was so good-natured and well-behaved, I could take him everywhere. Friends and family loved him. He was a quintessential party guy with a great heart who entertained everyone with his “Lando Happy Dance" and squeals of joy. When the family celebrated anything, Lando was there sharing the love. Getting sinus cancer seemed so unfair but he loved Life and continued to walk every day until the last, enjoying his family and neighborhood friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. My heart is broken but I am grateful to have known such love and courage. Goodbye, my Love, see you over the rainbow!
