15 years ago, we adopted Loki from a neighbor's litter of kittens. We didn't know what to expect from the brown tabby kitten rolling around on his back in the corner, but we knew we needed him in our lives. Loki was exactly the kind of companion anyone should be lucky enough to meet in a lifetime - he was dedicated to his loved ones, he was patient, and he was painfully affectionate. His favorite things included Temptations (or as we called them "Loki Treats"), drinking from the water fountain, and sleeping at the foot of his favorite human's bed. When Loki received his diagnosis for kidney disease, we were scared - but more than anything we wanted to ensure our boy maintained a comfortable life with the time he had left. We were fortunate enough to have two more fulfilling years with him before he let us know he was ready to rest. If not for the kidney food treatment and level of care we received from First City Veterinary Hospital, Loki's progression in his twilight years would not have been as smooth or peaceful as they were. We hope Loki's story as a beloved companion and patient helps future veterinarians and pet owners alike.
