Max came to us through the Seattle Humane Society location in Bellevue, Washington in February 2003. As his 4th family in his first 7 months, the highly energetic black lab/dalmatian, previously named Colin, was happy to have consistency and caring in his life.

We moved from Seattle to Portland in 2016.

His athleticism, determination and ingenuity are unparalleled in any pet for which I have been responsible. Affectionately known as "The Monster", he could open a door from either side using the handle. Max once opened an Olive Garden front door and on a separate occasion was found hanging out in his hotel room with the door wide-open. He could leap a 6 foot fence without touching and surprised every daycare he attended by opening gates turning his peers loose. Max enjoyed running next to bikes and skateboards and chasing tennis balls.

He was affectionate to humans, indifferent to other dogs and an outstanding communicator.

For more than 15 years, Max was our loyal companion, friend and welcome responsibility. He passed on May 1, 2018 one month shy of his 16th birthday. Max did not get cheated in his enjoyment of a long, wonderful life.
