Mookie wanted to be friends with the world. He never met a person, including his veterinarian, that he didn’t lavish with affection. And he was rewarded with a lot of love in return. He was an adventurer as well. Camping, traveling, hiking, he was always up for something new and exciting. Swimming was his favorite activity. He had the chance to swim in Lake Superior and one day he swam across the lower Deschutes River three times! Unfortunately, Mookie had two physical ailments. One was treatable with medication, but the other was not and he was taken from us after only five years of a very fulfilling life. I have lost many dogs in my lifetime and, while they were all sorrowful, none as much as Mookie. He was the most loving, loyal and affectionate dog I’ve known.
