Penny was my best friend for nearly 15 years. She was rescued from a puppy mill that had been closed by local humane law enforcement and came to our home as a foster at only 6 weeks old. She was so tiny someone legitimately thought she was a guinea pig! In the years that followed she and I went through a divorce, graduate school, 3 moves across the country, and a global pandemic. Through it all she was the one constant. Always there at my feet with that goofy smile, and never not ready for a snuggle.
