In early 2006 she was found running wild in SE Portland; County Animal Control considered her unadoptable and, rather than put her down, gave her to Family Dogs / New Life, a no-kill shelter. We found her there and welcomed her into our family, renaming her Stella. Over the next fifteen years she was best friends for 8 years with Gabby and then another 7+ years with Mack. After she went blind and suffered a serious fall in 2020 Stella’s 6-8 mile walks were cut back to 3-4 miles, but she continued to join us on frequent trips to visit family in New Orleans.

Stella left us peacefully in early December; she was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
