Suki, our golden girl dog, we lost to cancer at age 9. Such sorrow we feel even weeks later.
She enjoyed many years of her life serving as our vineyard dog, working at keeping it clear of all critters. Running down the rows, the moles would jump into their holes and the squirrels scuttled up neighboring trees, all in fear. Such fun! Near harvest time the feeding birds kept her so so busy. Later in the day she served as the tasting room greeter selling more than a few glasses of wine for the cause. After the vineyard was sold, and we had more time at home, she transitioned to keeping the kitchen floor clear of various bits that fell from the chopping board some of which were dropped on purpose as a treat but she did not quite get that. She also served as our fitness motivator. We walked hundreds and hundreds of miles together. She was not quite an angel as we could not break her from stealing food left unguarded on the cupboard. She seemed to think they were squirrel proxies and as such, fair game. Suki you are so deeply missed. Hug your dog, they are not with us long enough.
