Shipping Requirements
Label all samples. Ship overnight with cold packs in an insulated container. Ship Monday-Thursday only. Ear Notch: Glass or plastic tube with no additives. Serum: Glass or plastic tube with no additives or serum separator tubes (SST).

Collection Protocol
Only serum samples from precolostral newborn calves or calves older than three months are suitable for testing with this ELISA kit. Ear notches from animals of all ages may be tested. This test is designed for detection of persistently infected (PI) cattle.
Detection of bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVD) antigen in serum or ear notch samples by antigen-capture (ACE) enzyme linked immunosorbent assay; used to detect persistently infected (PI) animals. Samples must be received in the lab by 5 pm the day prior to testing, otherwise samples will be held until next scheduled testing day. With the addition of a STAT Fee, alternate testing times are possible to expedite turnaround times. Please call us at 541-737-2172 if testing a large number of animals. While advance notice is preferable, it is not required.
