Shipping Requirements
Ship overnight on cold packs in an insulated container Monday through Thursday (for delivery Tuesday through Friday). Sealed, leakproof containers or plastic bags.
Specimen Requirements
Fresh or Frozen entire Retropharyngeal lymph node (RPLN) and/or Obex of Brain
Collection Protocol
Separate RPLN and Obex tissues into different containers and clearly label all samples and paperwork with unique animal IDs.
Detection of the abnormal prion protein that causes Chronic Wasting Disease by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Submissions containing both retropharyngeal lymph node (RPLN) and Obex will have only the lymph node tested unless otherwise specified. Samples which test Suspect Positive on ELISA will be submitted for IHC. This may incur an additional charge. Large batches of samples may require additional time to process and test.At this time we are testing wild cervids only. For captive or farmed cervids, the specimens will be sent to an approved AAVLD laboratory for testing. Shipping charges will apply.
