Detection of Coccidioides IgM serum antibodies against the TP antigen by agar get immunodiffusion. The presence of IgM anitbodies directed against the TP antigen indicate recent, active infection. These are primarily IgM antibodies which appear within several days of infection. The IgM antibody AGID test is usually positive within 1 week after infection and reverts to negative within a few months. Test performed Monday-Wednesday. Results available three days after receipt if specimen is received by 5 pm the day prior to testing, otherwise specimen is held until next scheduled testing day.
