One or more of the following: 1-2 g fresh tissue, placenta with cotyledons, milk, feces.

Note for Placenta: only cotyledonary placenta will harbor organisms, NOT amnion or allantois.
Detection of Coxiella burnetii by real-time PCR. Test is available as STAT if requested, for an additional fee. Same day results provided for STAT specimens submitted before 10:00 a.m. Results for STAT specimens submitted after 10:00 a.m. receive priority status and are reported as soon as they are available, at least by the following business day.
