Shipping Requirements
Label all samples. Ship overnight (samples must arrive within 24hrs of collection) in a insulated container with ice packs. Collect in a red and lavender top tube.
Specimen Requirements
CSF-1.0 ml (0.5ml EDTA and 0.5ml in red top tube). Samples must be refrigerated. Do not centrifuge or freeze samples.

Cytologic evaluation of cells from CSF samples. Includes gross examination, cell counts, glucose, CK and microprotein. Preparation of direct, concentrated and cytocentrifuge slides (where indicated), and microscopic evaluation by a clinical pathologist. Provide a brief clinical description or history. Test is available STAT for additional fee. After 5:00 pm, test is available as “Call In” for additional fee.
