Collection Protocol
Media should be inoculated with representative skin scrapings or hair plucks from around affected area. Media should be submitted to laboratory for incubation and observation no more than 3 days after inoculation.
Isolation and identification of fungal dermatophytes from inoculated dermatophyte media Specimens received inoculated more than 5 days prior to receipt date and/or specimens covered in high numbers of environmental fungi may be rejected.
