Shipping Requirements
Label all samples. Ship overnight in a insulated container with ice packs. Immediately spin and separate the citrated plasma before freezing the sample. Use an additive free transport tube. For platelets EDTA tube.
Specimen Requirements
Whole blood in 3.2% sodium citrate tube (blue top) and 0.5 ml EDTA whole blood.
Collection Protocol
Fill one 3.2% citrated blue top tube (1.8 ml) to the blue fill indicator marked on the label. Do not short fill or over fill the citrate tube as this will cause erroneous results and the sample will be rejected.
Measurement of PT, PTT. D-dimer and platelets by automated analyzer. Test available as STAT with additional Fee. Panel Includes: D-Dimer, Partial Thromboplastin Time (PTT), Platelet Count, Prothrombin Time (PT)
