Shipping Requirements
Label all samples. Ship overnight with cold packs in an insulated container. Ship Monday - Thursday only. Blood: EDTA (purple top) tube. Trunk Washes: sealed, leak-proof jar, tube or bottle.
Specimen Requirements
3-5 mL whole blood in EDTA, trunk wash
Collection Protocol
Ensure thorough mixing of blood in EDTA (e.g. invert tube several times immediately following collection to prevent clotting). Clotted blood is not suitable for testing. Trunk washes should be submitted spun down prior to submission.
