Shipping Requirements
Label all samples. Ship overnight with cold packs in an insulated container. Serum can be shipped refrigerated or frozen, Whole blood can only be shipped refrigerated. Ship Monday-Thursday only. Glass or plastic tube with no anticoagulant additives.
Specimen Requirements
1 ml Serum from Whole Blood. Whole Blood Clotted, Red Top Tube. Whole Blood Clotted, Serum Separator Tube.
Collection Protocol
Collect serum from clotted blood in a non-additive tube (e.g. plain red top or serum separator). When possible, transfer clear serum off the clot into a new tube. Excessively hemolyzed or lipemic samples are not acceptable for this test.
Detection of antibodies to Equine Herpesvirus Type 1 by virus neutralization. Testing days are dependent on sample load. Please call us at 541-737-2172 if testing a large number of animals. While advance notice is preferable, it is not required.
