Shipping Requirements
Label all samples. Ship overnight with cold packs in an insulated container. Ship Monday-Thursday only. Submit specimens in sealed leak-proof containers.
Specimen Requirements
One or more of the following: 2-3 g feces, 1 mL intestinal content, 1-2 g fresh intestine.
Collection Protocol
Fresh samples provide the most accurate results. Do not submit feces in gloves.
Detection of porcine rotavirus type A by real time PCR. Test is available as STAT if requested, for an additional fee. Same day results provided for STAT specimens submitted before 10:00 a.m. Results for STAT specimens submitted after 10:00 a.m. receive priority status and are reported as soon as they are available, at least by the following business day. Test also available as part of the Porcine Diarrhea PCR Panel.
