Label all samples. Ship overnight with cold packs in an insulated container. Ship Monday-Thursday only. Submit specimens in sealed leak-proof containers.
Specimen Requirements
One or more of the following: 2-3 g feces, 1 mL intestinal content, 1-2 g fresh intestine.
Collection Protocol
Fresh samples provide the most accurate results. Do not submit feces in gloves.
Detection of swine deltacoronavirus (SDCoV) by real time PCR. Test is available as STAT if requested, for an additional fee. Same day results provided for STAT specimens submitted before 10:00 a.m. Results for STAT specimens submitted after 10:00 a.m. receive priority status and are reported as soon as they are available, at least by the following business day. Test also available as part of the Porcine Diarrhea PCR Panel.
