Shipping Requirements
Label all samples. Ship overnight with cold packs in an insulated container. Serum can be shipped refrigerated or frozen, Whole blood can only be shipped refrigerated. Ship Monday-Thursday only. Glass or plastic tube with no anticoagulant additives.
Specimen Requirements
1 ml Serum from Whole Blood. Whole Blood Clotted, Red Top Tube. Whole Blood Clotted, Serum Separator Tube.
Collection Protocol
Collect serum from clotted blood in a non-additive tube (e.g. plain red top or serum separator). When possible, transfer clear serum off the clot into a new tube. Excessively hemolyzed or lipemic samples are not acceptable for this test.
Detection of Toxoplasma IgG antibodies by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. The Toxoplasma IgG indirect ELISA is validated to detect antibodies against the Toxoplasma gondii P30 antigen in Black Bear, Bovine, California Sea Lion, Camelid, Canine, Caprine, Feline, Ovine and Porcine serum samples. This test can detect IgG antibodies from a variety of mammalian species and may be used in species other than those listed upon request; however, a comment will be included in the report indicating that internal validation has not been performed for other species. Testing days are dependent on sample load. Please call us at 541-737-2172 if testing a large number of animals. While advance notice is preferable, it is not required.
