Shipping Requirements
Please ensure slides are packaged to withstand transport to the laboratory. The OVDL cannot replace slides that arrive broken. Rigid slide container. Cardboard slide mailers are not recommended.
Specimen Requirements
Glass slide must be intact, cover-slipped (except cytology), and labeled (barcode preferred). Glass slide must be standard format 75 mm by 26 mm (3" by 1") with a scan area up to 20mm by 25mm (0.75" by 1").
Generation of whole slide image at 200x (20x objective) from a glass slide prepared for bright field microscopy (light microscopy). WSI files typically range from 0.5GB to 1GB for 20x scans and 10GB to 20GB for 40x scans. Files will be shared with submitter and maintained for 2 weeks, at which point slides will have to be re-scanned (incurring the scanning fee). If a slide breaks while handled at the OVDL, the laboratory will make an attempt at replacing the slide (cutting and staining from block provided by submitter).
