Pooled testing for detection of Mycobacterium avium ssp. paratuberculosis, the causative agent of Johne's disease, by real time PCR, following the protocol approved by the USDA. Up to 5 samples are pooled. This is a reportable disease and the State Veterinarian will be notified of positive results.

Detection of influenza type A (matrix gene). Detects, but does not differentiate subtypes H3N8, H3N2, H5N1, H1N1, etc., by real time PCR. Test is available as STAT if requested, for an additional fee. Same day results provided for STAT specimens submitted before 10:00 a.m. Results for STAT specimens submitted after 10:00 a.m. receive priority status and are reported as soon as they are available, at least by the following business day. Test also available as part of the Canine and Equine Respiratory PCR Panels.

Tissues submitted for biopsy will have histologic slides generated for pathologist interpretation and report.Potential additional fees:

Fluorescent microscopic exam of feces for Haemonchus sp. Concurrent fecal floatation with at least 25 EPG Trichostrongyle type ova required. The percentage of positive ova will be reported.

Classification of bacterial organism based on Gram stain characteristic.

Measurement of glucose by automated analyzer. Test available as STAT with additional Fee.

Special staining for microscopic identification of chlamydia and coxiella

Direct examination of feces with iodine staining for microscopic examination for giardia cysts or trophozoites.

Measurement of gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT) by automated analyzer. Test available as STAT with additional Fee.
