Additional Information:

Detection of both IgM and IgG serum antibodies to Coccidioides immitis "TP" and "F" antigens, the causative agents of Coccidioidomycosis, by agar gel immunodiffusion. The presence of IgM anitbodies directed against the "TP" antigen indicate recent, active infection. These are primarily IgM antibodies which appear within several days of infection. The IgM antibody AGID test is usually positive within 1 week after infection and reverts to negative within a few months. The presence of IgG antibodies directed against the "F" antigen indicate active or recent past (up to 1 year) infection. The IgG antibody AGID test is usually positive within four weeks after infection and remains positive throughout clinically active disease. Test performed Monday-Wednesday. Results available three days after receipt if specimen is received in the lab by 5 pm the day prior to testing, otherwise specimen is held until next scheduled testing day. Panel Includes: Coccidioides (Valley Fever, AGID) IgG Agar Gel Immunodiffusion Screen, Coccidioides IgM AGID Screen
