Oscar was rescued from an animal shelter in Southern Oregon. He was selected because reached through his cage to hug my husband as he walked by. He was in our family over 17 years, we believe he was 19 or 20 when he died. Oscar was a lover. He wanted to be carried around on my shoulder or sitting in my lap whenever he was awake. He loved to go on walks around the block and lay in the sunshine in the backyard. He had diabetes and needed insulin for the last 5 years of his life. Keeping him healthy was high maintenance, but he made up for it with his affection and love for people. It is hard to imagine another pet being as wonderful as Oscar.
